Don`t Worry Be Happy

IMG_8780If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry . If it is not fixable, then there is no help in worrying πŸ™‚ – Dalai Lama –

Regardless of what environment you prefer , we all find ourselves worrying at some point in our lives.

Here are some things to remember when you find yourself worrying :

1) Nothing is permanent. People and situations flow in and out of our lives. What you are experiencing now does have an end ….. have faith , be patient .

2) Stay in the present moment. Every time you are worrying ,the only thing that has changed are the thoughts you are having about what is happening.You are either thinking about the future or the past. Come back to the present and realize you are fine here and now.

3) Remember that everything happens for a reason. Good , bad , sad or happy – there is a purpose for everything in life ( even pain ). We are the ones who define and label a situations as good or bad and worth worrying about.

Have faith and trust in the process of life.Β 

Everything always works out exactly how itis supposed to …even if that means it is not how YOU wanted it to work.

Center yourself – learn to trust yourself and float through life with grace πŸ™‚

Just Do It

IMG_8733It`s cold and dark in the mornings and although we all know Yoga is our ray of sunshine, it can still be hard to get up and at it this time of year. Here are some tips to help get you from the mattress to the mat and ensure you spend the rest of the day with that inner glow only Yoga can give you.In fact , while we often assume we lack motivation , there are some simple tricks you can use that will make the process a whole lot easier.

Avoid thinking of the strenuous part of your Yoga practice, or the poses you are finding challenging.

Instead think about some nice , spine and mind awakening cat stretches.

Why not take it a step further and start your Yoga practice before even getting out of bed ?

Lie on your back , place your hands on your belly and ribcage and start with some deep breathing..

Feel how you become more awake and energized, creating heat in the body and a desire to get up and practice.

Have a warming ginger and lemon tea to warm you up inside and out before starting.

Remember , even 10 minutes are better than nothing. Avoid the trap of thinking only 60 or 90 minutes are good enough.

Just 10 – 20 minutes every single day soon adds up πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Good Looking

IMG_7519We supposedly do Yoga to get healthy, de-stress and unite mind , body and spirit , no one judging us, no one saying we are not good enough.

Except ourselves πŸ™‚

So why do we bring all our usual conditioning into class ?

A good teacher will remind you to let go of that inner critic , telling you not to compete with the girl in the front row or jam yourself into the splits.

Showing off , trying to be the best, all these things hinder your enjoyment and development.

Transcending oneΒ΄s self and all it`s likes , dislikes, desires and ego , and just being ok with who you really are ( sweaty hair , muffin top or stiff back ), is a moment of truth that can change your life.

It`s not what you achieve in a yoga class thatΒ΄s important , it`s what you transcend .

So , on the days your flattering yoga pants are in the wash and your mascara has run , you won`t even notice.

You`ll be busy being in the moment .

Golden Detox Rules

IMG_8635Simple steps for a free and easy detox πŸ™‚

Hit the mat :Β do some yoga , even a few simple moves at home will do . There`s plenty of free stuff out there on the web .

Cut it out :Β the party season is over now , so cut back on alcohol and if you`re a smoker , now is definetly the time to stop . Reduce your caffeine intake too.

Ditch it :Β the same goes for the refined products like sugar and white flour. Avoid them.

Go veggie ( a bit ) :Β if you can`t bear the thought of going vegetarian completely, then at least up your fruit and veg intake , and reduce meat consumption by Β buying smaller, more expensive organic cuts. Boot out processed meats.

Drink water :Β our bodies need to be well hydrated , so always drink lots of water, whether you are on a health kick or not. Fresh juices and smoothies are a great way to extend your fruit and veg quota too.

Chill out :Β take up meditation if you don`t already do it .Relaxation , whether that`s sleeping, meditating, or some downtime on the sofa, is just as important as exercise and eating well.

Open The Door

IMG_8606You may have closed the door to so many things for three big reasons :

Hurt – Failure – Fear

Those three things are certainly painful, but we all experience them . Some move through with new perspective and others close doors, usually without knowing it.

Slowly and quietly we close the doors, add layers of locks and forget about the possibility on the other side.

In an effort to protect ourselves from the bad stuff, we completely shut out the good stuff.

There are people who love you , people who will inspire you and great resources to help you with whatever you desire, but you have to let them in.

You have to open the door πŸ™‚

We have so much to learn from each other, but only when we open the door, open our hearts and open our lives to change will we have the power to make a difference !

IMG_8536Vegetables , the number one energy-boosting food, should make at least a third of your diet.

Because vegetables are high in fibre , the bulky part of the food your body doesn`t digest, they prevent you from feeling hungry too soon after a meal.

And because they are low on the glycemic index – a measure of how quickly a food converts into sugar in your body- vegetables prevent extreme highs and lows in blood sugar, so you have more energy , improved mental function , and a heightened sense of wellbeing .

Fruits are great too, but try not to eat too many high-sugar varietes, such as watermelon, cantaloupe and mango πŸ™‚Β 

Together with moving your body whenever possible , stretching your muscles in different yoga poses , opening your joints and increase your flexibility, drink clean water and feel the fantastic freedom in a light body πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Break On Through

IMG_7333Identify your limiting beliefs, then break through them with positivity πŸ™‚

When we hear a negative judgment about ourselves, are unhappy, experience failure, or a perceived injustice, we can allow these to become our limiting beliefs.

” I never have enough money “, ” I am not good enough ” , ” nothing good ever happens to me “, ” why can`t I have a job I love “.

These quickly become negative affirmations which we reinforce to ourselves again and again.

Our brain will always seek to confirm or thoughts.

So when we ask negative questions and make negative statements, our brain provides us with examples of things we cannot afford, times we were not good enough, bad things that always happen to us, and a list of things we dislike about work.

Our subconscious mind accepts them as true facts and draws them into the internal blue print which we live our life by.

The trick to conquer limiting beliefs is to create positive affirmations to replace the negative ones. We want to create a new blue print for our brain to process and reinforce.

It is pointless to ignore very real obstacles in your life, to pretend everything is great when it isn`t.

But , changing how we view them can change how we feel about them .

It is powerful to ask ” what can I do about this situation? ” , how can I improve this ?” , how can I make this work ? “

By asking yourself positive and reflective questions you can break through your limiting beliefs πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚Β

Yoga As A Treatment

IMG_8542There is growing evidence that Yoga is an effective rehabilitation tool πŸ™‚

Medical institutions and leading health organisations have tested the efficacy of Yoga in clinical trails for cancer treatment and rehabilitation, heart disease, addiction, asthma, athritis, epilepsy, stroke, multiple scleroses and chronic pain syndroms , including low back pain and repetitive strain injuries.

In many cases fatigue and poor sleep contribute to slow rehabilitation, and this can effect quality of life and the body`s ability to repair itself.

Restorative Yoga has proven to be very helpful , as the practice provides a low – load , prolonged relaxation , which helps to reduce tension , improve respiratory function and help patients to find much needed rest .

Yoga provides so many fantastic tools πŸ™‚Β 

Get to know them , use them and feel your life quality improving πŸ™‚
