Isn`t that what we all want : an energetic , glowing body; clear , youthful skin ; and taut , toned limbs ?

Waking up in the morning aglow with energy and look in the mirror to find a face that looks rested and luminous before applying cosmetics ?

But it doesn`t stop there : what about feeling peaceful inside, inexplicably happy to be alive ?

Raw Food is the answer , whether juiced ,” smoothed “, or simply eaten as a salad, it will definitely reconnect you to your powerful body and mind.

Healthy Aging

IMG_0396Find meaning and joy  – make aging a positive experience 🙂

A key ingredient in the recipe for healthy aging is the continuing  ability to find meaning and joy in life.

As you age , your life will change and you will lose things that previously occupied your time and gave your life purpose.

For example , you may retire from your career , or your children will move far away.

But this is not a time to stop moving forward.

Later life can be a time of exciting new adventures if you let it .

Healthy aging means finding activities that you enjoy.

Everyone has different ways of experiencing meaning and joy, and the activities you enjoy may change over time.

If you are not sure where to get started , try something you always had in your mind , but never made space for.

Age contributes you with experience, which is a big advantage when starting with something new.

The possibilities are endless.

The important thing is to find activities that are both meaningful and enjoyable to you .

Whatever your preferences , taking time to nourish your spirit is never wasted 🙂 🙂 🙂

Raw Food Diet

IMG_0363You will open the flood gates of improvement in every area of your life.

Detoxifying the body through raw foods is a way of living.

The goal is not detox and then ” retox “, but rather to learn how to love eating for constant improvement, reaching higher and higher levels of health .

Cleaning your body is likely to trigger a desire to clear and cleanse your living space to reflect the inner cleansing that is taking place.

You are more than likely going to feel inspired to create more clarity in your communications with others and live from a more honest space.

With this inner cleansing will come a greater sense of confidence in yourself and honor for your fellow man.

On a more physical level, you are going to experience greater levels of wellness and be less dependent on medications and fears relating to illness.

Start slowly integrating creative , tasty raw food into your life – light , clean , natural and alive foods make you feel light , clean and more alive.

One essential characteristic that helps us laugh , is not taking ourselves too seriously.

We all know the classic tight – jawed sourpuss who takes everything with deathly seriousness and never laugh at anything.

No fun there !

Some events are clearly sad and not occasions for laughter.

But most events in life don`t carry an overwhelming sense of either sadness or delight.

They fall into the grey zone of ordinary life – giving you the choice to laugh or not.

The ability to laugh , play and have fun with others not only makes life more enjoyable, but also helps you to solve problems, connect with others and be more creative.

People who incorporate humor and play into their daily lives, find that it renews them and all their relationships.

When you ” become the problem ” and take yourself too seriously, it can be hard to think outside the box and find new solutions.

But when you play with the challenge, you can often transform it into an opportunity for creative learning.

Playing with problems seems to come naturally to children.

When they are confused or afraid, they make their problems into a game, giving them a sense of control and an opportunity to experiment with new solutions.

Interacting with others in playful ways helps you retain this creative ability.

As laughter , humor and play become an integrated part of your life, your creativity will flourish and new discoveries for playing with friends, coworkers, aquaintances and loved ones will occur to you daily.

Humor takes you to a higher place, where you can view the world from a more relaxed, positive, creative, joyful and balanced perspective.

Healing Touch

IMG_0260Countless studies have demonstrated the power of touch to reduce pain , anger and depression; improve immune function ; lower heart rate;and yes , decrease stress.

So how does that work ?

Even the simplest touch stimulates the vagus nerve in your brain, slowing the heart rate and decreasing the body`s production of cortisol, a primary stress hormone.

A friendly touch also releases oxytocin, a hormone that effects trust behavior and our ability to connect and bond with others.

And while a loving touch certainly boosts one`s spirit, a platonic touch can have a similar effect.

Simply giving an encouraging pat on the back to a coworker, or an affirming touch on the arm during a conversation will take some of the edge off the day.

Better yet, treat yourself to a massage. The ayurvedic practice of abbyanga ( self-massage with oil ) not only calms the nervous system and grounds frenetic energy , it also improves circulation and nourishes the skin.

Another way to take matters into your own hands : gently hold onto your thumb with the fingers of your opposite hand and take six complete breaths.

This calming , grounding exercise comes from Jin Shin Jyutsu, the Japanese art of tension release, which harmonizes the universal life energy that circulates throughout the body.

IMG_0195Sharing here a few comments from Amy Weintraub , yoga teacher and the author of ” Yoga for Depression ” on how to bring Yoga and Mental Health Care together.

” There´s i a growing number of research studies providing evidence that yoga belongs in a mental health treatment plan.

It lowers cortisol, the stress hormone; it activates the parasympathetic system, which is calming; and it deactivates the limbic brain, which is overactive in people who are very anxious or have a history of trauma .

More and more therapists are experiencing the effects of yoga themselves and realizing this is a wonderful tool to offer clients .

As yogis have understood for thousands of years, when we have events in our lives that are difficult, the body constricts.

Any emotional constriction has a physical corollary.

We can address the emotions by working with the body and the breath .

For example , when we`re anxious , the breath is shallow in the upper chest.

When we deepen the breath, we`re activating the parasympathetic nervous system and releasing some of the anxiety.

We`re actually balancing the mood by extending the exhalation.

The message of yoga is , that deep within you , you are whole and healed , no matter what is going on in your life. Yoga can help you reconnect with a sense of that wholeness, of who you really are, beneath the current mood . ”

The Practice Of Yoga……

IMG_0131….. helps us to remember who we are and to move toward our inner Self.

As we cultivate a mor wholesome state of mind and practice wholesome actions, we begin to notice that unwholesome habits fall away on their own.

As the Persian poet Rumi eloquently said, ” I once had a thousand desires. But in my one desire to know you, all else melted away.”

In our one desire to know the Self, to know our higher purpose, those actions that do not serve the purpose begin to dissolve, like sugar in warm water.

Move toward what inspires you.

Move toward authentic connection – with yourself, with those you love, with nature, with your higher life purpose.

And notice how , within that frame of connection, willpower becomes an effortless act of love.
